Eòrpa, BBC Alba’s long-running and award-winning Gaelic-language European current affairs series is looking for an assistant producer with location directing experience to join the team for its 29th series.
Main Responsibilities
The role will involve directing a small single camera team on location while keeping to often demanding production schedules. Working with the producer, researchers, talent, production management team, crew and contributors the AP will deliver finely crafted extended reports and half-hour specials, combining great story-telling skills with visual flair, while also adhering to BBC editorial standards and appropriate health and safety protocols, including those for Covid-19. Liaising effectively with local fixers during European filming will be a requirement.
Are you the right candidate?
The ideal candidate will have experience of single-camera location filming (including foreign filming, if possible) and the ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team. They will combine creativity and sound editorial judgement with a knowledge of, and interest in, Scottish and European current affairs. The successful candidate will be resourceful and have the ability to think on their feet when dealing with tight deadlines and unexpected challenges on location. Fluency in Gaelic is preferable.
