Acair is looking for a Marketing and Communications Officer to work within our team. This is a wonderful opportunity to work in an established publishing company on the Isle of Lewis, and to work day-to-day using Gaelic.
The role of the Marketing and Communications Officer is to steer all social media output for Acair, along with the running of the Acair website. This requires inputting information about new books and publishing news into the website, along with highlighting older titles and producing useful, interactive content on social media.
This role also requires the successful candidate to produce regular press releases about new titles and publishing news, alongside a monthly newsletter. These will be written in Gaelic, with an English translation.
Other aspects of this role include planning and delivering book launches, ensuring bookshops have the relevant information on new titles, creating regular newspaper adverts and handling all online orders and deliveries. You will sometimes be required to work flexible hours and to travel to book launches and sales trips.

Fluent written and spoken Gaelic
Degree level qualification
Awareness of marketing techniques
Experienced in using social media platforms
Experienced in using Microsoft programmes (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Adobe Photoshop / InDesign experience
Web development experience
Customer service experience
Driver’s licence and access to a car
