This is a hugely exciting time for BBC Naidheachdan as we move our TV news gallery from Glasgow to Inverness and look to expand out output. Our flagship TV programme, An Là covers local, national and international news for BBC ALBA. As well as regular bulletins throughout the day on Radio nan Gaidheal, we produce a morning and evening drive-time show, Aithris na Maidne and Aithris an Fheasgair.
The Technical Operators will be core to supporting our production and newsgathering teams.
We are looking to bring on board three technical operators to support Gaelic news output in Inverness. These are key roles in the success of bringing the main television news gallery to our Inverness base in the production of An Là. Your remit may include, but no be limited to: vision mixing, straightforward lighting, technical operation, camera operations, radio, online and general newsgathering support. You will support your colleagues, particularly the more senior members of the technical operations team.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have an aptitude for technical operations – be confident in operating and reacting to problems with kit, software and equipment. This role involves a large degree of flexibility and resilience which will come as second nature to you. As you will be working closely with the news production team, you will be able to communicate clearly and assertively and respect demands of working in a fast-moving environment. Ideally you will be a fluent Gaelic speaker although we will consider candidates without the language skills.
