Permanent contract – 35 hours per week


This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a good understanding and passion for Gaelic to lead on the delivery of the University of Edinburgh’s Gaelic Language Plan and contribute to achieving the 32 commitments of our Community Plan.


The Opportunity:


The post-holder will work with colleagues from across the University to undertake key projects that ensure that Gaelic is mainstreamed as business-as-usual. They will develop Gaelic-related academic, cultural and social activities and be the main contact for external partners on Gaelic-related issues.

They will be responsible for running the University’s Gaelic social media channels and for monitoring and evaluating activity against the objectives of the Gaelic Language Plan.

Working within the Stakeholder Relations and Community teams, the post-holder will also provide content for the Edinburgh Local social media channels and attend meetings and events with city stakeholder groups as required.


They will also look at upcoming issues which could be of potential interest to the University and our community stakeholders from across the city and flag these to colleagues in a timely manner.

Your skills and attributes for success:

A fluent speaker of Scottish Gaelic
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently and with little supervision
Excellent organisational, interpersonal and presentation skills
A relevant professional qualification or degree or broad experience
