This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Archivist to work alongside a developer to undertake basic level metadata and catalogue checks during the transition of data on the Tobar an Dualchais website to a new platform. Included in this role is the task of checking the catalogue functionality as a new platform is developed.
You will be based in the archives team at the Centre for Research Collections but will be expected to work a significant proportion of time at Argyle House alongside the Library Digital Development team.
You should have a postgraduate qualification in archival management, or equivalent in a relevant subject, and practical experience of archival metadata management. Experience of working in a project environment is desirable.
To undertake basic level metadata and catalogue checks during the transition of data on the Tobar an Dualchais website to a new platform. Included in this role is the task of checking the catalogue functionality as a new platform is developed.
- Use established processes and methodologies to check the appropriateness, format and crosswalking of data from the current Tobar an Dualchais platform to an open-source cataloguing system (ArchivesSpace), editing and formatting to align the data to what has previously been offered. (Approx 80% of time)
- Maintain a data log of the transition of data, completion of batches, and prepare reports for submission to stakeholders for analysis of progress. (Approx 5% of time)
- Along with Digital Library colleagues, contribute to the development of a dedicated online resource, giving access to the catalogue and contextual information about the collections, individuals and organisations and creating coherent and comprehensible pathways into the collections to best suit research. (Approx 10% of time)
- Co-ordinate project administration including reporting, planning, to ensure objectives are delivered on time (Approx 5% of time)
