Placement summary
Stòras Uibhist, based on South Uist in the beautiful Outer Hebrides, are looking for a Tourism Marketing Officer to support the development and delivery of a tourism strategy for the area. The successful candidate will build strategic industry partnerships, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing resources such as the website and social media, as well as design and produce marketing materials for key activities on the estate.
This 12-month role may lead to further employment opportunities with Stòras Uibhist subject to the project being successfully delivered.

Project Description
Stòras Uibhist is the main trading arm of Sealladh na Beinne Mòire (SnBM), whose mission is to promote the social and economic regeneration of the South Uist Estate reflecting the cultural, environmental and community strengths of the area, through sustainable development and long-term investment in management of the estate assets.
You will support Storas Uibhist, in delivering its strategic plan for the socio-economic benefit of the South Uist Estate area.
The preferred start date is 3rd July 2017, however this is flexible and depending on the successful candidate’s availability.

Placement Objectives
The vision is for Stòras Uibhist to be much more proactive in the tourism arena in the next 5-10 years, and this post will help facilitate this development.
Role Description
- Specific tasks of the placement will include:
- Developing with the Senior Management Team a Tourism Strategy for Storas Uibhist.
- Preparing, planning and project managing the publication of all publicity material to maximise brand promotion
- Creating marketing campaigns and working with the company’s external PR agency to see them delivered
- Creating key strategies for specific tourism related activities on the estate
- Planning and project managing marketing events and evaluating their success
- Developing and implementing an internal marketing programme.
- Oversee Website development in line with the new Strategy
Qualifications
Minimum HNC related to Marketing. Other candidates will be considered provided they have the required skills.

Essential Skills
- Knowledge of marketing and social media principles and tools
- Website and graphic design skills
- A strong and confident communicator
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A team player able to work in a dynamic organisation
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to work weekends and out of hours as this will be occasionally required
Desirable Skills
- Access to own transport
- Knowledge of the local area
- Previous experience working in the tourism sector, preferably in a marketing role
- An understanding how to market an organisation operating in the tourism sector
